Step 1: Select the following in your export rule under workflow settings
- Publish As: Journal Entry
- Status: Draft or Posted
Step 2: Set up Tracking Categories (optional)
Step 3: Select Tax Rate
- Exclusive (Line items do not contain tax)
- Inclusive (Line items contain tax)
- NoTax*
*If NoTax is selected, you can further choose to select
(a) Pro-rate Tax Amount (from Total Tax Amount in document into line item amount based on their amount values)
(b) Generate Tax Amount as Line Item
Step 4: Include a narration for your document
- This narration field is important for identifying your description of journal being posted. It can be any field from the document
- For example, to use document invoice number as the narration, you could use the formula '{document.invoiceNumber:text}'
Step 5: Decide how the document should be exported
(a) Export each row with debit and credit columns from document
- If this option is selected, the debit and columns extracted will be used for posting
(b) Export each row with total column from document. Debit/Credit logic is configured in Item Options
- If this option is selected, you can identify the line items you would like to post and even define a Posting Type for the line item

Step 5: Select 'Create Rule' if there is no other advanced settings required
